Readme file for Batch Ortho Wizard This file contains information on using and installing the Batch Ortho Wizard. This beta software is provided "as is" free of charge and no warranties are made as to its utility for any specific purpose. Please read this before using the wizard. This wizard will orthorectify all datasets in a directory in batch. You must setup each dataset first using the Geocoding Wizard (or other means), but do not perform the final 'Rectify' step. You must choose one type of orthorectification: - Ortho with GCPs ("ortho"); or - Ortho with Exterior Orientation ("ortho advanced") All datasets in your directory must be setup for this type or errors will occur. NOTE: Input datasets cannot reside on a CD-ROM, or in directories with spaces in the directory name (for example, "test files"). Be aware that if you change the directory name, you may need to also update the parameters of each input dataset if they refer to files (such as a DEM) that reside in the directory that contained spaces. The wizard determines the input and output directories by prompting you to select a file in that directory. For input, select one of the datasets you want to orthorectify, and all others in that directory will also be processed in the batch run. For output, enter a filename in the directory where you want to write the output orthorectified datasets. (The wizard default is the same as the input directory.) Note: The output filename you enter is not used, only the directory location is used. (So you can enter any output filename, for example "XXX.") Output files are named as described following. Output filenames will be automatically created from the input filenames. You have two options: - Output rectified files get the same name as corresponding input files. You must choose a different output directory in this case. - Output rectified files are assigned the input file's name appended with a text string. (For example the raw dataset photo1.ers appended with 'ortho' creates the rectified dataset photo1_ortho.ers) This allows output files to be written to the same directory as input files. Note: Be sure the output directory is writable (i.e., not a CD-ROM or similar drive). You also have the option to either use the resampling, cell size and null value for each input dataset as you defined in the Geocoding Wizard, or specify new parameters to apply to all datasets. Specifying one common set of parameters lets you, for example, create all output datasets with the same cell size. --------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: --------------------------------------------------- Follow these instructions to install the wizard on the Windows 95/98/NT PC platform. 1) Close all ER Mapper applications. 2) Copy the file "batch_ortho_wiz.exe" into a temporary directory on your hard drive. 3) Double-click on the .exe file in Windows Explorer. The WinZip Self Extractor dialog displays. 4) In the "Unzip to folder" field, enter the directory location of ER Mapper on your system (make sure the drive letter is correct, for example C: or D:), then click "Unzip" to install the wizard files into the appropriate ER Mapper directories. 5) Click Close on the WinZip Self Extractor dialog when finished. 6) Restart ER Mapper, then select Toolbars/Wizards. Click the "Batch Ortho Wizard (beta)" button to start the wizard. (You can also run it by selecting View/Batch Engine Script Control, clicking Run Script, then double-clicking on "ESG_Batch _Ortho.erb" file.)
